What does Ciprofloxacin treat?
This is a medication prescribed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections which includes urinary tract infection, bone and joint infection, abdominal infection, typhoid infection, skin infection, lower respiratory tract infection, sinus infection, cystitis and prostatitis. It belongs to a class of drugs called quinolone antibiotics. It acts by preventing the growth of bacteria. Your physician may use this to treat other ailments based on their discretion.
Follow the Ciprofloxacin dosage prescribed by your physician. The dosage could vary based on individual patient requirements. Always follow your physician’s instructions or go by the directions on the prescription drug label. Remember to take it with a full glass of water.
Missed a dose?
Take it immediately once you remember. In case, this time falls close to the next dosage, skip it and get back to the prescribed schedule. Never take a double dose unless your physician specifically directs you to do so.
Don’t waste any time and seek immediate medical attention. Overdose symptoms that one may encounter are change in the amount of urine, seizures, blue lips and weakness.

Possible Side Effects

Some of the side effects could be nausea, vomiting, insomnia, nervousness, diarrhea, restlessness, drowsiness, loss of appetite, headache, and abdominal discomfort. Serious side effects are very rare but may include seizures, dark urine, depression, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, skin rash and pale or yellowed skin. This is not the complete list though.
