    Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol is an oral contraceptive (birth control pill) used for the prevention of pregnancy in women. This combination medication is composed of female hormones, namely Levonorgestrel (progestin) and Ethinyl estradiol (estrogen). Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol works by preventing ovulation and by causing changes in the mucus of the cervix, which makes it harder for sperm to penetrate into the uterus. It also prevents the attachment of a fertilized egg to the uterus. This medication may also be prescribed to regulate the menstrual cycle as well as treat acne in women. This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
