Lopid (Gemfibrozil)

Lopid (Gemfibrozil) is a cholesterol-regulating medication used to lower the levels of triglycerides in people with pancreatitis. Gemfibrozil helps reduce very high blood cholesterol levels in people who have not responded to diet and exercise. This medicine can also be used to decrease very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol ("bad" cholesterol) and increase high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol ("good" cholesterol). It is prescribed to prevent coronary heart disease as well.

Recommended Dosage - Discount Prescription Drug Lopid

The dosage of Lopid prescribed to each patient will vary. Always follow your physician’s instructions and/or the directions on the prescription drug label. The following dosage information includes the common dose of Lopid. If your dose is different, do not follow the dosage described below unless your physician has approved.

Lopid is usually taken 30 minutes before a meal, preferably in the morning and evening.

Missed Dose of Lopid

If your physician has instructed or directed you to take Lopid medication in a regular schedule and you have missed a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the doses unless otherwise directed.

Overdose of Lopid

Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose of Lopid, seek medical attention immediately.

Side Effects of Lopid

Like other medicines, Lopid can cause some side effects. If they do occur, the side effects of Lopid are most likely to be minor and temporary. However, some may be serious and may require the individual to inform the doctor or visit the nearest hospital immediately.
