Medroxyprogesterone is a type of female hormone (progestin) used to restore normal menstrual periods in premenopausal women (amenorrhea). It is also used to treat abnormal bleeding from the uterus and to prevent endometrial hyperplasia in postmenopausal women who have not undergone a hysterectomy.
