Don’t make these allergy mistakes!
Allergies can make your life feel miserable with a stuffy nose, itchy eyes, trouble breathing, watery eyes, coughing, and other such symptoms. If you suffer from allergies, here are some common pitfalls to avoid. A little precaution can go a long way in keeping allergies at bay.
Sleeping with your pet
If you have an allergy, keep your pets strictly away from you while sleeping. While you may not be allergic to pets, they could be carrying in potential allergens such as mold, pollen, dust and so on from outdoors.
Exercising at the wrong time
If you enjoy doing outdoor workouts, avoid the mornings and early afternoons. Grass and trees start releasing pollen at sunrise and their levels reach their peak during late morning and early afternoon. Shift your exercise schedules to the late afternoon or evening.
Keeping windows open
Close the windows during pollen season and run the air-conditioner.
Kids love these cute, cuddly toys but unfortunately, they tend to collect dust which can be a huge trigger for allergies. Try to persuade them to give them away or let them pick a few that you regularly clean and keep free of dust.
Taking shoes inside the home
When you come in from outside, your shoes can track in dust, pollen and other potential allergens into the home. So leave your outdoor footwear outside the home.
Not showering if you have been outdoors
In case, you have had to spend some time outside cleaning or in any other activity, make sure you immediately take a shower once inside. This is because pollen can collect on your skin and hair.
Feather comforters and pillows can cause allergies over a period of time as the feathers tend to disintegrate. Synthetic pillow stuffing, like polyester fiberfill is always better when you have allergies. Get dust-mite proof covers for your pillows and mattress as well.
