Which exercises will keep you younger?
A recent study shows that people who have been regular with their exercise have bodies that are decades younger. The study was conducted by researchers from the Human Performance Laboratory at Ball State University in Muncie, IN. Their subject was a group in their seventies who had been regularly exercising. It was found that their cardiovascular health and overall health was as good as those in their forties.
Go for endurance training
Endurance training is about pushing your body to sustain an exercise or physical activity for longer periods of time. This includes cycling, running aerobic exercise, soccer and so on. This brings not just physical stamina and energy but also mental clarity, better sleep, confidence and quality of life.
The larger muscle groups in our body tend to age faster, these muscles are the ones used for pulling, pushing and squatting. You can do 10-15 reps of squats on alternate days. Building flexibility is very important and you must make it a point to stretch at least two days a week. Hold each stretch for 30 to 60 seconds. Go in for exercises that strengthen the back and core too as these are factors to body stability.
Go for some high intensity activity
Many are afraid to jump for fear that it could hurt the knee or hip. The impact is needed to build bone density. However, this does not call to try out something every tough, just a forceful step like stamping a bug is enough. The secret is to mix intense bursts of exercise with short periods of active rest. When you perform high intensity activity, this works and activates different pathways in the body and this brings benefits at the cellular level.
Exercise also helps the skin and keeps it looking younger and healthier. Start exercising today to keep your body, mind and skin young.
