Bad habits that can cause joint pain
All of us have to use our joints in many different ways every day to complete our routine. However, many times, we develop bad habits that not only cause joint pain but may also lead to Arthritis. Here are some tips on how you can keep these at bay.
Sleeping on your stomach
When you sleep on your stomach, you will find that you need to twist heads and necks to the side. When this happens, this leads to a lot of stress on the nerves. This also ends up compressing the spine resulting in awkward spinal alignment.
Ignoring joint pain
Many of us have the tendency not to wake up to joint pain until it get severe. In case you suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, or any another kind of degenerative joint condition, delaying your visit to a specialist can cost your health in a big way! You might end up with permanent joint damage and disability.
Too much time on your comp
The modern workplace calls for spending long hours on the computer but this can result in pain in your neck, wrists, elbows, shoulders, and back. When you suffer from a bad posture or spend time working too long while sitting in one position, this overworks your muscles and also increases stress on the discs in your back. What you can do to remedy this is give support to your body and move around now and then.
Using your thumb to text
This is probably one of the worst habits. Texting by itself stresses out joints in your hands and when you use your thumbs, this makes things worse. Texting using your thumbs forces them into awkward and often hyperextended positions which will irritate the tendons. You will be shocked to know that this places 12 times the pressure on thumb joints that it does on the tips of the thumbs.
