      Foods for better liver function

      The liver is a very important organ and it performs a wide range of functions. The liver's key role is filtering blood from the digestive tract and then moving it to the rest of the body. The liver also detoxifies chemicals, metabolizes drugs and produces proteins important for blood clotting and other functions.

      Broccoli

      If you want to keep your liver healthy, make sure that plenty of veggies go into your diet. Broccoli is a crunchy food that can help to prevent nonalcoholic fatty Liver Disease. It tastes great when roasted with garlic and a splash of balsamic vinegar.

      Coffee

      Most coffee lovers would be happy with this news! Coffee may actually protect your liver from damage caused by too much alcohol or even an unhealthy diet. Some research even goes to the extent of stating that this may help protect against liver cancer.

      Green tea

      Green tea is filled with an anti-oxidant known as catechins and this can help you protect against liver cancer. It’s better to take this hot though as there are higher levels of catechins in this.

      Water

      Leafy greens are rich in a powerful antioxidant, glutathione and this is important to keep the liver working properly. These are delicious when sautéed with garlic and olive oil.
