      Fight pain with these foods!

      Aches and pains are a part of life. The good news is that you can use a variety of foods to bring down the level of pain. Here are some time-tested remedies that still hold good. Make ginger, mint, cherries, salmon, pumpkin seeds and other pain-relieving foods part of your routine.

      Ginger

      Ginger has been a very integral part of many traditional streams of medicine. This has been shown to be very effective in treating pain which can range from joint pain to menstrual cramps. It also has a soothing effect on the stomach.

      Mint

      Peppermint has many medicinal properties. You can use peppermint oil to brings down painful cramps, gas and bloating. Peppermint tea soothes stomach upsets.

      Fruits that fight pain

      Blueberries are loaded with phytonutrients that can fight inflammation and reduce pain. In case, these are not in season, even frozen blueberries do the trick.  Strawberries and oranges are rich in antioxidants and polyphenols and help reduce pain too. Cherry juice is filled with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds and will bring down pain.

      Magnesium

      Pumpkin seeds are a great source of magnesium and this helps reduce migraines. Besides this, nuts like almonds and cashews, dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale, beans and lentils are good sources of magnesium and reduce pain.

      Fish

      Salmon is filled with Omega-3 fatty acids and is very heart healthy. It can bring down joint tenderness for those suffering from rheumatoid Arthritis.  You can also consume different kinds of cold-water fish such as tuna, sardines and mackerel to bring down pain. However, avoid catfish and tilapia as they can promote inflammation.

      Turmeric

      This spice contains curcumin which is very good for overall health and is also known to bring down inflammation. This has helped people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Black pepper facilitates better absorption of turmeric, so make a tea out of these adding ginger and honey as well.

       Virgin Olive Oil

      Extra-virgin olive oil also has lubricin, an element that’s important to keep joints sliding smoothly and keeping cartilage from breakage. It may help those suffering from osteoarthritis.
