Build stronger bones with these smart moves

All of us want stronger bones but here’s how you can get them with these smart moves crafted by experts. Give your bones a little care and watch them support you through life.

      Go slow on the salt

The more salt you eat, the more of calcium that it removes from your body! Cheese, chips, snacks, processed food and canned food contain high amounts of salt that can be absolutely detrimental to health. Try to cut down the salt in your diet to less than 2300 milligrams a day.

      Drinks that harm

If you have been taking too many cola-flavored sodas, it’s time to do a rethink as they tend to harm your bones. Research points out that caffeine and phosphorus in these beverages can lead to bone loss. Instead choose a drink like milk that contains calcium for the bones.

Smoking harms the body in many ways and also prevents the body from forming healthy bone tissue. It also increases the risk of bone breakage and increases the period necessary for healing. So, stay away from smoking.

      Certain medications

Some medications that you have been prescribed for the long term may damage your bones. Certain anti-seizure drugs and glucocorticoids such as prednisone and cortisone may also cause bone loss.

If you are underweight, it’s time that you took stock of the situation and added more calcium to your diet. A low body weight with a BMI of 18.5 or less increases the risk of fracture and bone loss.

Build stronger bones by exercising. Avoid binge-watching movies as this ends up with less of movement. Besides this, it’s good for your skeleton when your feet and legs carry the weight of your body as this pushes your bones and muscles to fight against gravity.
