      Foods that help prevent colorectal cancer

      Colorectal cancer happens to be the third most common type of cancer prevalent both amongst men and women. When you eat the right kind of diet, exercise and keep your alcohol consumption to a minimum, your level of risk comes down to a great extent.

      Choose dairy
      Calcium rich dairy products cut down your risk of getting colon growths that can lead to colorectal cancer. Calcium supplements are great too.

      Colourful fruits and veggies
      Add taste and health to your diet by including more of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. These are rich in antioxidants such as carotene, beta-carotene, and lutein. They are also rich in selenium. From oranges to avocados, kale to broccoli, make sure you include vegetables and fruits into your daily diet.

      Fiber has always had a good reputation for helping prevent cancer and also being the friend of the gut. Some of the foods rich in fiber include various whole-grain cereals and breads, legumes, prunes, berries,  fresh fruits and veggies, kidney beans and brown rice.

      Cinnamon has anti-cancerous properties.  Just consuming 1/2–1 teaspoon (2–4 grams) of cinnamon may not only help prevent cancer but also bring in other health benefits like reduced  blood sugar and decreased inflammation.

      Nuts are not just tasty, crunchy and nutritious, they also have big benefits such as protecting from cool-rectal cancers.

      Fish  especially fatty fish like salmon are filled with omega-3 fatty acids which not only help in preventing cancer but are also great for heart health.

      Olive oil
      Research conducted in 28 countries revealed that those with a greater consumption of olive oil had lower rates of colorectal cancer. Besides this, 19 studies revealed that those who had taken the most olive oil had the least risk of getting colorectal cancer.
