How can you prevent computer eye strain?

The computer has become a part of modern lifestyle. Whether it's at work, online shopping, browsing or playing online games, each one of us has a reason for using the computer and before we realize it, we have spent many hours on it. This increases the stress on our eyes, here are some valuable tips to keep your eyes in good shape.

      Go for a break
Give your eyes regular breaks. Every 15 minutes, take your eyes off the computer and look from side to side. After this, look into the distance. To give you some additional benefits, do some shoulder rolls while you look around, this gives you a nice neck stretch, too.

      Get the lighting right
While looking at your computer screen, you may get digital eye strain due to excessively bright light which comes in from the outdoor sunlight streaming in through a window or from harsh interior lighting.

You can cut down the intensity of exterior light by closing window shades or blinds. Bring down the intensity of interior lighting by opting to use fewer light bulbs and lower intensity bulbs and tubes. As far as possible , do not work under bright fluorescent lights. Go in for a floor or table lamp which gives you softer, indirect lighting.

      Cut down glare
Glare is quite a big contributor to eye strain. Light that reflects back from your screen or other surfaces in the room are culprits. Install an anti-glare screen protector, this will help. If you have bright or reflective walls, repainted them in a more soothing color with a matte finish.

      Use eye drops
When you are continuously watching the computer screen, you tend to blink less. This can make your eyes dry, use eye drops to combat this.
