Good tips to save your eyesight

Your eye is undoubtedly one of the most important senses in your body. It’s essential to enjoying a good quality of your life, navigating, performing routine chores and communicating. Taking care of your eyes properly will go a long way in preserving your sight as you age.

      Eye exams

Make sure you go for eye screenings on a regular basis. This will not only help you sort out existing problems but also help prevent any serious problems in the future. Neglecting your eyes may even lead to blindness.

      Eat smart

Most of us know that carrots are good for the eyes. This is true but it’s also important to maintain an overall balanced diet. Foods such as salmon, tuna, beans, eggs, and nuts are also good for your vision.

      Go for green tea

Green tea offers plenty of health benefits and when it comes to your eyes, it helps to protecting eyes from cataracts, age-related macular degeneration and even certain types of glaucoma. Research reveals that a flavonoid found in green tea known as gallocatechin is stored in your retina and protects your eyes from the sun's damaging rays. One cup a day will keep your peepers super happy!

      Wear shades

The sun’s damaging rays don’t just harm your skin; they harm your eyes too! Make sure you protect your eyes by wearing shades.

      Eye cosmetics

You might enjoy wearing eye cosmetics but they could harbor bacteria. Do not keep eye makeup for long and do not share these wit others.

      Exercise

Most of us associate exercise with staying fit and losing weight but did you know that it can play a really big role in caring for your vision? Exercises such as walking or running daily will strengthen your vision and reduce your risk for cataracts and macular degeneration.
