Feeling low on energy? Try these.

If you are feeling low on energy, here are some foods and beverages that you should be consuming. These not only help you gain more energy, they help improve overall health.

      Go for the grains

A bowl of whole-grain oatmeal is a rich source of essential minerals, vitamins, and phenolic compounds and fills your body with energy. Quinoa is a seed but most consider it a grain, this is rich in protein, carbohydrates, and fiber and provides energy. Brown rice comes with the husk and releases energy slowly, so you could sustain for long periods.

      Dairy, meat and fish

Beef liver is one of the best meat sources for vitamin B-12 which keeps the body energized. Natural yogurt is filled with protein, fats, and simple carbohydrates that give energy to the body. Eggs are great for an energy boost as they provide the body with plenty of protein and nutrients for sustainable energy. Fatty fish such as salmon, sardines and tuna are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and improve brain function which could be the cause for fatigue in some people.

      Veggies to embrace

Oranges contain Vitamin C that brings down oxidative stress in the body and prevents fatigue.  Berries such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries are high in antioxidants and generate energy. Bananas are one of the best fruits to give you a boost of sustained energy. Rich in fiber and other nutrients, these make great snacks too. Avocados have nutrients, protein and fiber that sustain energy levels through the day. Dark leafy greens such as kale, collard greens and spinach are nutrient-dense and filled with antioxidants, these help produce more energy.

There’s nothing like a glass of water to energize you, it’s important for the functioning of every single cell. Just carry a bottle around wherever you go and keep sipping. Coffee is one of the most popular energy boosters and gives you a quick pick-me-up. However, consume it in moderation. Green tea keeps you energetic and reduces oxidative stress.
