      Posted AtHindustan.com

Pharma industry and governments across the third world countires of ASEAN, Africa and Gulf Cooperation Council are keen to foster marketing alliances with Indian pharma industry, if the proceedings at India-Africa, ASEAN and GCC pharma and health conference are any indication.

"Almost all representatives of over 30 countures, who participated in the meet are keen on forming marketing joint ventures with India," Rajan Kohli, Deputy Secretary General, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), said on Friday.

The two-day meet, jointly organised by FICCI and Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) concluded on a positive note in Hyderabad.

The meet had one-to-one businies sessions between buyers and sellers and also familiarisation session with individual countries.

"There has also been a feeling among the international industry that there is a necessity to make registration and other regulatory process easier," Kohli said.

"The information channels between India and the three main regions are now activated to fuller extent and business ties would be generated in the due course," he added.

According to DB Mody, Chairman, JB Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, the exports of Indian drugs, vaccines in particular, would grow phenomenally in near future.

"The affordability of Indian drugs is too glaring for the thidworld contries to ignore," Mody said.

A number of Health Ministry officials from 30 countries, along with industry representatives, attended the meet. "India's capability is well-showcased. It would have a positive impact on exports," he added.

According to industry estimates, Indian exports could be anywhere between $14-25 billion in the next five years.
