Keep blood sugar in check
When your blood sugar is high, this can damage your kidneys. Go in for a yearly A1C blood sugar test so that you get to know whether your blood sugar level is in check. If you have Diabetes, be scrupulous about your diet, medication and exercise.

Most of us associate high blood pressure with increased risk of a heart attack or stroke but this may also create kidney damage.

Alcohol and smoking are great enemies of your kidneys. Alcohol makes it tougher for the kidney to filter blood as it causes changes in kidney function. It also dehydrates your body and this affects the routine functions of cells in all organs including those in the kidney. Besides this, having too much of alcohol also can raise the chances of high blood pressure. Smoking is bad for the body in many ways, it’s always a good idea to kick the butt. Exercising regularly brings down the risk of chronic Kidney Disease drastically. It will bring down your blood pressure and also improve heart health. Running, cycling, walking and even dancing are great ideas. Find something you enjoy, it will make it easier for you to be regular at it.

Go for plenty of fresh ingredients in your diet such as fruits, salads and so on. Cut down on sodium and processed meat. Make sure your diet is healthy and nutritious.
