Are you guilty of these bad heart habits?
Our heart is the most muscular organ in the body and pumps blood throughout the body. Keeping it in good condition is vital to life itself. However, not all of us take proper care of our heart. Here are some bad heart habits that you may be guilty of.
Thinking you are too young
There is no such thing as being too young to cultivate good heart habits. Exercise, eat healthy food and keep stress out of your life by learning to relax.
Drinking too much
Moderate drinking say one a day for women and two for men is fine but beyond that it can increase fat levels in the blood and blood pressure too.
Know your numbers
Do not let heart disease creep up on you by being ignorant of your numbers. Once you reach the age of 20, start checking Cholesterol and bp levels. If they are beyond the permissible limit, work at bringing them down.
If you have been feeling low for a few weeks, get professional help. Feeling low makes you lose interest in other activities such as exercising, eating healthy and so on. Go for exercise, medication or whatever is needed to bring you out of that low feeling.
You may not be a smoker but the smoker next to you could endanger your heart health. Secondhand smoke can damage your heart and blood vessels.
Trusting just your workout
You could be one of the many who believe that just the morning workout is enough to keep the heart healthy. However, if you have a job that requires more of just sitting down, it’s important to have small pockets of activity. Get up now and then and take a brisk walk to boost circulation.
