When we say the word health foods, our mind begins ticking boxes on salads, soups and so on. However, the fact is that not all of these are created equal, some actually are high caloried monsters! Here’s a look.
Every fitness conscious soul believes that soups are light, refreshing and light on the calories. However, cream-based soups may be delicious but they pack in the calories. Instead, choose broth-based soups such as vegetable or chicken noodle soup, cream-free tomato soups and stews.
This so-called health food can prove to be quite high in calories, fat and sugar. Usually, granola is made from nutrient-rich ingredients such as nuts, seeds, oats, and dried fruit but the culprits are ingredients such as chocolate chips and sugary syrups that come with store-bought granola.
When you are on a diet, what do you pick? A salad is [probably on top of your list. However, salads, again may be fresh and healthy only based on the ingredients. All-natural fruit juice can give you vitamins and minerals that you find in whole fruits. However, there is a catch, portion-control is a must. Most of us tend to drink more than we should. Instead, eat a real fruit.
