Nektar India's R&D centre in Hyderabad

The US-based drugs developing company Nektar Therapeutics (India), has started its research and development centre in Hyderabad. This is the company's second overseas centre next to its UK branch.

The R&D centre located in the ICICI Knowledge Park will support the pre-clinical and bio-analytical development of proprietary and partner products. The company would like to fully integrate its Indian operations into Research and developmental work.

With this the company plans to overcome the long-drawn processes of developing the drug and thereby accelerating the product development. The drug discovery involves applications in biology, engineering and chemistry.The company has worked on products like PEG-Inteferon Alpha-2A (Pegasys-Roche) and PEG-filgrastim (Neulasta, Amgen).
