Andhra Pradesh to cooperate with Polish region in IT
Posted AtHindustantimes.com
The Andhra Pradesh government
has signed a major cooperation deal with the Malopolska
region of Krakow in Poland, mainly for the development
of the IT sector.
The deal was signed by representatives of the Andhra
Pradesh government in Krakow where major Indian IT companies
are currently participating in a three-day workshop
(December 1-3).
Participants at the workshop include Indian IT majors
such as Satyam, TCS, C-I India, Infosys as well as technology
park specialists Ascendas-India and the Rahejas.
The Andhra Pradesh IT delegation is being led by P Sabita
Reddy, state minister of IT, according to INEP agency.
A delegation from the Krakow administration had visited
India recently and had met 25 IT companies and government
representatives.
Krakow is looking to acquire and attract Indian expertise
in developing an IT Technology Park. Indian participation
is also required for major IT projects being undertaken
by Poland between now and 2012.
Indian Ambassador to Poland Anil Wadhwa, who was present
in Krakow for the signing ceremony, stated that this
was a historical moment in bilateral economic relations
between the two countries that have seen an upswing
over the last two years.
Bilateral trade between the two countries is expected
to cross the $500 million mark this year, an increase
of more than 40 percent over last year.
Indian companies in textile, pharmaceuticals, steel
and coalmine sectors besides the IT sector are keen
on investment in Poland, which has a population of 40
million and possesses a technology-oriented younger
generation.
Poland is also considered an ideal gateway for Indian
IT companies and others into the rest of the European
Union.
Besides the representatives of the regional government,
Polish officials from the central ministries of interior
and finance outlined the country's IT plans for the
benefits of Indian participants.
The Indian IT delegation met officials in Warsaw and
will later travel for meetings in Katowice, Wroclaw
and Lodz.
