Cadila to set up $2m centre
in Colombo

Cadila Pharmaceuticals is setting up
a bio-medical R&D centre in Colombo to produce life-saving
vaccines, reports Economic Times.
The project will focus on manufacturing vaccines for
life-threatening diseases like HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis
C and other communicable diseases in Colombo, mainly
to provide them at affordable costs, according to sources.

Kalam for 'made in India' drugs

A P J Abdul Kalam, said in Chennai after inagurating
Orchid Chemicals' new facility.
Stating that the research and drug design, development

Nektar India's R&D centre in
Hyderabad

The US-based drugs developing company
Nektar Therapeutics (India), has started its research
and development centre in Hyderabad. This is the company's
second overseas centre next to its UK branch.
The R&D centre located in the ICICI Knowledge Park will
support the pre-clinical and bio-analytical development
of proprietary and partner products. The company would
like to fully integrate its Indian operations into Research
and developmental work.
