one shipping line operates from India.
Indian bulk drug and formulation exports to the fast-emerging
CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) markets are
reeling under severe margin pressures as high freight
costs and delay in shipments are biting into profitability.
Currently, Maersk is the only container shipping line
operating between India and CIS countries.

Appreciating that globalisation has brought
countries closer, a Nobel Laureate has cautioned that
the phenomenon should be used to solve the problems
of poor nations and not just for meeting countries'
selfish goals.
Speaking on the sidelines of 93rd Indian Science Congress,
Nobel laureate from Switzerland Richard R Ernst said
that while globalisation had brought the countries together,
it also had a damaging effect.

MP Brinda Karat's spat with popular yoga exponent Swami
Ramdev over the ingredients of medicines manufactured
by his ashram threatens to snowball into a major controversy.
Karat's charges are serious: she claims these medicines,
sold as cure-alls for everything from cancer to impotence,
have in them human parts including bones.
He has strongly refuted the allegations. Irrespective
of how events pan out, this will focus attention on
the safety standards of alternative medicines, a huge,
multi-crore industry in India.
