All of us want to put in our best at work but you’ll be surprised that some of these common foods and beverages actually bring down your productivity.
Coffee is one of the most common beverages at office but for some people, it can mean more of bathroom runs and this can upset work plans. Some people may feel jittery or encounter gastrointestinal disturbances.
Fried, fatty foods
That greasy burger or pizza may be satisfying to your palate but when it comes to work, it pulls down your capacity to work. A heavy lunch will make you feel bloated and sluggish as well. Go for a light meal that keeps you brisk.
Many of us think that these will give us the burst of energy that we need to help us get done with the next work task. However, what actually happens is that though the sugar in it will give you a temporary boost, the crash after that will make you feel tired. Instead, choose energy bars that give you the right balance of whole-grain carbs, healthy fats, protein and fiber.
Packaged snacks and processed food
These do not have much nutritional value and can leave you feeling thirsty. They can also make you feel dehydrated and tired. Instead, go for snacks such as nuts or fresh fruits that have nutritional value.
Smoothies are usually made with plenty of fruit and juice without protein, this can actually make you feel a little uncomfortable as you go through the day.
This can make you feel bloated and gassy so keep this treat for times when you are home.
Meals that have not been designed properly can make you feel quite tired and irritable. Go for a combination of protein, complex carbohydrates and healthy fats.
