Can yoga improve your sex life?
The health benefits of yoga include relieving stress, anxiety, managing Diabetes, managing thyroid problems and more. However, can it help your sex life? Let’s hear it from the experts.
Dr. Lori Brotto, a professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada has an interesting take on sex and yoga. She says that yoga regulates attention, breathing and parasympathetic nervous activity. This triggers the nervous system to communicate to your body that it should relax, rest, digest and set off metabolic processes for relaxation. What’s important is that all these improve sexual response. It also gives your energy a boost which helps you fire up your moves in bed.
Yogic poses that promote better sex
Moola Bandha is an asana that stretches the muscles of the pelvic floor and this balances and stimulates the area. This is quite similar to Kegel exercises that are medically recommended to have sex for longer. Bhekasana or the frog pose strengthens the pelvic muscles.
Yoga poses such as Kapalbhati and others have helped Men in gaining sexual satisfaction too. They improve desire, erection, orgasm, ejaculatory control and more.
Yoga also helps psychologically. Women who do yoga regularly are less likely to objectify their bodies and tend to be more aware physically. In fact, a study revealed that 75% of women who received yoga training reported benefits in their sexual life. Their training involved 22 yogasanas which impacted icore abdominal muscles, strengthened the pelvic floor, created a better mood and improved digestion.
