Eaten too much sugar? How do you detox?

Sugar is something that most of us love. Have you binged on sodas, pastries, ice-creams, cakes and candy? Probably, all of us have at some point. This can result in what is called a “sugar hangover.” This results in symptoms such as headaches, nausea, digestion issues, concentration problems, lethargy, and low or high moods. You need to get rid of this sugar from your system fast. Here’s how.

Exercise helps you burn the excess calories and also improves mood and relieves anxiety. Go for a long, brisk walk. Go for short bursts of intense or moderate-intensity physical activity. Do some cardio and strength training as well.

      Load up on the water

Water helps to clear sugar from the system and also keep you hydrated. 2 liters of water at least a day are recommended. You may take a little tea or coffee but make sure there’s no sugar.

      Go for protein

When you have had so much sugar, there would definitely be a spike in sugar levels, and you would also feel full. However, after a few hours, when the effects wear off, you will feel hungry again and get sugar cravings. At this time, go in for proteins.

      Increase your fiber intake

When you have enough fiber in your diet, this helps manage sugar cravings and promote healthy blood sugar levels. Fibers are also rich in healthy sugars that maintain your energy levels high.

Avoid sugars for the rest of the day

Most experts say that you must completely avoid sugar and sugary stuff. In case, you consumed too much sugar today, make sure to cut out all the sugars tomorrow. Do this as long as you can. This will help control sugar cravings and unpleasant symptoms such as headache, lethargy, and nausea.
