What is Simvastatin used for?
Simvastatin is a cholesterol-lowering medication, which can help prevent heart attacks and strokes. It works by blocking the production of cholesterol in the body. Simvastatin reduces bad cholesterol namely low-density lipoprotein. This medication is usually prescribed in cases where cholesterol levels could not be lowered by non-drug treatments such as change in diet, increase in exercise, and losing weight if overweight. It belongs to a class of drugs referred to as statins. This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
What is the recommended dosage of Simvastatin?
The dosage of Simvastatin prescribed to each patient will vary. Always follow your physician’s instructions and/or the directions on the prescription drug label.
Take Simvastatin with a full glass of water. It is usually taken in the evening.
What if you miss a dose of Simvastatin?
If your physician has instructed or directed you to take Simvastatin medication in a regular schedule and you have missed a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember.
