What does Sumatriptan treat?
Sumatriptan belongs to the class of drugs called triptans and is prescribed to treat and prevent migraine attacks. This acts on relieving symptoms of migraines such as headaches, pain, sensitivity to light/sound, nausea and vomiting. It acts by working on the brain chemical serotonin which reduces the swelling of blood vessels around the brain. Your physician may use this to treat other ailments based on their discretion.
Follow the Sumatriptan dosage prescribed by your physician. The dosage could vary based on individual patient requirements. Always follow your physician’s instructions or go by the directions on the prescription drug label. Use this only during a migraine attack.
