It stands at 49-55 (for those aged between 18-25 years), 49-54 (for ages 26-35), 50-56 (for 36-45 year olds), 50-57 (for those aged between 46-55 years), 51-56 (for 56 -65 year olds) and 50-55 (for above 65 years-old male-athletes). The rates tend to get higher as athletes age.

Women-athletes’ pulse rates stand at 54-60 (for women aged between 18-25 years), 54-59 (for those aged 26 to 35 years), 54-59 (for athletes aged 36-45 years), 54-60 (between 46-55 years), 54-59 (for 56 -65 year-old athletes) and 54-59 again (for those aged 65 years and more).
Excellent pulse rate – Men
Pulse rate is labelled as “excellent” when it is 55-61 (for men aged between 18-25 years), 55-61 (for those in age group 26-35), 57-62 (for men 36-45 years old), 58-63 (men aged between 46-55 years), 57-61 (for those of 56 -65 years) and 56-61 (for men aged above 65 years).

Pulse rate is termed as “excellent” for women if it is 61-65 (for women aged 18-25 years), 60-64 (for women in age group 26-35), 60-64 (for women 36-45 years old), 61-65 (women aged 46-55 years), 60-64 (for women in 56 -65 years age-group) and 60-64 (for women aged 65 years and above).

For men, pulse rate is termed as “good” when it is 62-65 (for men of 18-25 years and for those in age group 26-35), 63-66 (for men 36-45 years old), 64-67 (men aged between 46-55 years), 62-67 (for those of 56 -65 years) and 62-65 (for men aged above 65 years).
