Male-athletes’ pulse rates vary with age. It stands at 49-55 (for those aged between 18-25 years), 49-54 (for ages 26-35), 50-56 (for 36-45 year olds), 50-57 (for those aged between 46-55 years), 51-56 (for 56 -65 year olds) and 50-55 (for above 65 years-old male-athletes). The rates tend to get higher as athletes age.

Athlete – Women

Women-athletes’ pulse rates stand at 54-60 (for women aged between 18-25 years), 54-59 (for those aged 26 to 35 years), 54-59 (for athletes aged 36-45 years), 54-60 (between 46-55 years), 54-59 (for 56 -65 year-old athletes) and 54-59 again (for those aged 65 years and more).

Excellent pulse rate – Men

Pulse rate is labelled as “excellent” when it is 55-61 (for men aged between 18-25 years), 55-61 (for those in age group 26-35), 57-62 (for men 36-45 years old), 58-63 (men aged between 46-55 years), 57-61 (for those of 56 -65 years) and 56-61 (for men aged above 65 years).

Excellent pulse rate – Women

Pulse rate is termed as “excellent” for women if it is 61-65 (for women aged 18-25 years), 60-64 (for women in age group 26-35), 60-64 (for women 36-45 years old), 61-65 (women aged 46-55 years), 60-64 (for women in 56 -65 years age-group) and 60-64 (for women aged 65 years and above).

 

Good pulse rate – Men

For men, pulse rate is termed as “good” when it is 62-65 (for men of 18-25 years and for those in age group 26-35), 63-66 (for men 36-45 years old), 64-67 (men aged between 46-55 years), 62-67 (for those of 56 -65 years) and 62-65 (for men aged above 65 years).

Good pulse rate – Women

Among women, pulse rate is termed as “good” if it is 66-69 (for women aged between 18-25 years), 65-68 (for women aged 26-35 years), 65-69 (for women 36-45 years old), 66-69 (women aged 46-55 years), 65-68 (for women aged between 56 -65 years, and also those aged 65 years+).

Above average pulse rate – Men

Pulse rate is termed as “above average” for men if it is 66-69 (18-25 years), 66-70 (those in age group 26-35), 67-70 (for men 36-45 years old), 68-71 (men aged between 46-55 years and for those 56 -65 years) and 66-69 (for men aged above 65 years).

Among women, pulse rate is termed as “above average” if it is 70-73 (for women aged between 18-25 years), 69-72 (for women aged 26-35 years), 70-73 (for women 36-45 years old and those aged 46-55 years), 69-73 (for women aged between 56 -65 years) and 69-72 (those aged 65 years+).

Among men, pulse rate is termed as “average” when it is 70-73 (18-25 years), 71-74 (those in age group 26-35), 71-75 (for men 36-45 years old), 72-76 (men aged between 46-55 years), 72-75 (for those 56 -65 years) and 70-73 (for men aged 65 years+).

Pulse rate is termed as “average” among women if it is 74-78 (for women aged between 18-25 years), 73-76 (for women aged 26-35 years), 74-78 (for women 36-45 years old), 74-77 (those aged 46-55 years and for women aged between 56 -65 years) and 73-76 (those aged more than 65 years).

Below average pulse rate – Men

Pulse rate is termed as “below average” among men if it is 74-81 (18-25 years), 75-81 (those in age group 26-35), 76-82 (for men 36-45 years old), 77-83 (men aged between 46-55 years), 76-81 (for those 56 -65 years) and 74-79 (for men aged above 65 years).

Below average pulse rate – Women

Pulse rate is termed as “below average” in women if it is 79-84 (for women aged between 18-25 years), 77-82 (for women aged 26-35 years), 79-84 (for women 36-45 years old), 78-83 (those aged 46-55 years and for women aged between 56 -65 years) and 77-84 (those aged above 65 years).

Poor pulse rate – Men

In men, pulse rate is termed as “poor” if it is >82 (18-25 years and for those in age group 26-35), >83 (for men 36-45 years old), >84 (men aged between 46-55 years), >82 (for those 56 -65 years) and >80 (for men aged more than 65 years).

Poor pulse rate – Women

Pulse rate is termed as “poor” among women if it is >85 (for women aged between 18-25 years), >83 (for women aged 26-35 years), >85 (for women 36-45 years old), >84 (those aged 46-55 years, for women aged between 56 -65 years and for women those aged more than 65 years).
