Inhalers are used for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases – COPD like asthma, bronchitis, bronchial asthma, etc. There are also combination asthma-inhalers. These are used for effective control of wheezing and painting for breath. Combinations include beta agonists – both long-action and short-action variants or a long-action muscarinic agonist along with a corticosteroid. Symbicort is one of the combined inhalers. But commercial availability is highly restricted due to patent-related issues as well as exclusivity accorded to brand owners. A few meds containing formoterol fumarate in the aerosol form (including dihydrate) along with budesonide are available as generic offerings.
There are also a few unscrupulous vendors who provide generic for Symbicort; most such offerings are considered unsafe and are of a counterfeit-form.
In general, those who are living with hypertension / higher level of blood pressure, cardiac problems, hepatic conditions like cirrhosis or hepatitis, cataract or glaucoma (and other eyesight-related conditions), etc. must inform of ailments to their treating doctor. It is a good practice to carefully study the contents of the booklet. Younger patients – teenagers – must take the drug with the presence of an elder or a parent.
