They include inflammatory diseases such as asthma (lung inflammation), rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis, rheumatic carditis, polymyalgia rheumatica, and inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

Generic for Calcort* is a steroid medicine used to treat other inflammatory reactions such as allergies, anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction) and sarcoidosis. This medicine is also prescribed for the inflammatory eye disorders such as uveitis and optic neuritis; inflammatory disease of the skin and muscle such as dermatomyositis; and inflammatory skin disorders such as pemphigus vulgaris, bullous pemphigoid and pyoderma gangrenosum.

Generic for Calcort* is also an immunosuppressant that can lower the white blood cells. This Generic for Calcort* is used to suppress the immune system in organ transplant operations, which can help prevent the rejection of transplanted organs.
