Generic for Fasigyn* (Tinidazole) is an antibiotic drug used to treat certain types of infections caused by bacteria, including bacterial vaginosis (vaginal infection) and amebiasis (intestinal infection). It is also prescribed for the treatment of parasitic infections (giardiasis).
Generic for Fasigyn* is also an antiprotozoal agent indicated for the treatment of protozoal infections such as trichomoniasis, a sexually transmitted disease. Generic for Fasigyn* is also prescribed to prevent and treat infections that may occur after surgery, particularly surgery on the intestines or gynecological surgery.
Generic for Fasigyn* belongs to a class of antibiotics called nitroimidazoles. Generic for Fasigyn* works by stopping the growth of protozoa and bacteria.
