What is Gemfibrozil 300mg used for?

Gemfibrozil 300mg is a cholesterol-regulating medication used to lower the levels of triglycerides in people with pancreatitis. It helps reduce very high blood cholesterol levels in people who have not responded to diet and exercise. This medicine can also be used to decrease very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol (“bad” cholesterol) and increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (“good” cholesterol). It is prescribed to prevent coronary heart disease as well. This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

What is the recommended dosage of Gemfibrozil?

The dosage of Gemfibrozil prescribed to each patient will vary. Always follow your physician’s instructions and/or the directions on the prescription drug label. The following dosage information includes the common dose of Gemfibrozil. If your dose is different, do not follow the dosage described below unless your physician has approved.

Gemfibrozil is usually taken 30 minutes before a meal, preferably in the morning and evening.
