What is Labetalol used for?

Labetalol is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. It belongs to a group of drugs called beta-blockers. By blocking the action of certain natural chemicals such as epinephrine in your body, Labetalol lowers blood pressure, heart rate, and strain on the heart.
