What is Prasugrel 5mg used for?

Prasugrel 5mg is an antiplatelet medicine used to prevent blood clots forming in patients with acute coronary syndrome (heart attack, unstable angina), who have been treated with a certain heart procedure called angioplasty (percutaneous coronary intervention or PCI). Prasugrel belongs to the thienopyridine class of medicines. Prasugrel works by blocking platelets (sticky blood cells) from clumping together inside the arteries of your heart (or cardiac stent) and thus helps reduce the risk of blood clots.
