What is Telmisartan 20mg used for?

Telmisartan 20mg is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers. Telmisartan works by blocking a substance, angiotensin, thereby relaxing blood vessels. This action lowers the blood pressure and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. Reduction of high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
